Spending New Years Eve in a land of ancient wonders. Egypt is a place full of history and bustling cities, awe-inspiring pyramids, tombs, and amazing temples. Seeing them up close, and being able to touch them, is how history is meant to be experienced. We visited 4 destinations over 5 days.

While the pyramids have their own wow-factor, the Sphinx is also pretty cool on its own. We couldn't get up close to it like we could with the pyramids, so we had to shuffle along with the other tourists, trying to get to a good vantage point. Totally worth it though.
We booked a guided tour to Saqqarra where we visited the Bent Pyramid. In the distance we could see the ruins of other pyramid types that didn't make the final cut. Our guide provided us with a good amount of background knowledge about the history and evolution of the pyramids, and of ancient Egypt. We wish we had this kind of experience at the Great Pyramids yesterday.
We booked a guided tour to Saqqarra where we visited the Step Pyramid. At the complex surrounding the pyramid our guide got us free access to a tour of the tombs and we saw our first heiroglyphics in person. It was a short tour, but amazing nonetheless...read more.
